ABOUT ME

Hey there!

My name is Noor Ahmad, and I’m a graphic design student at UAL. I started my small business, Noor’s Notes, last summer in 2023.

As a young Pakistani woman, and growing up in a generation formed by trailblazing women (my great grandmother Apa Seemi and now my mother and her sisters), it was only natural for me to also flourish as a designer and maker as part of my generation. The vision of my future changed oftentimes (from an architect to an interior designer and now a graphic designer), but the many career paths I dreamt of had the same denominator all along. I finally realised in the summer of 2023 that my soul belongs to the creative industry.

I embarked on this journey to leave my mark in the world through effective and beautiful design. When Noor’s Notes was just a budding idea, I had just completed my A-Levels in art & design, English literature and physics. A year later, I found myself studying UAL’s pre-degree diploma in Art and Design at Central Saint Martins, specialising in graphic design.

Drawing inspiration from abstract concepts, as well as philosophical and scientific topics such as stoicism, religion, self-development, metaphysics and human nature, I like to infuse my work with ideas from these slightly complex fields of study.

I began by selling my creations at in-person makers’ markets, particularly with The Creative Side of London. Their excellent footfall and reputation, along with the fact that the founder is my mother, left no room for hesitation as a starting point for Noor’s Notes.

While Noor’s Notes is still quite young and in the making, I do see for it a bright future and a strong brand. Starting and maintaining Noor’s Notes doesn’t come without challenges – I tend to place content creation and my social media presence in general on a heavy pause when it comes to loaded academic design projects.

One of the biggest milestones for Noor's Notes is something I get to experience every time I'm trading at a market. The reactions and the compliments I receive from passing customers, both the young and old. Hearing them say how funny and beautiful my designs are truly makes my day. It means the world to me that my work comes from the heart and spirit. I believe that's the true beauty of having an eye for design - it goes beyond just possessing a skill.

This page's word count is young, as is myself and Noor's Notes. My motto is "GO ABOVE AND BEYOND. BE YOUR BEST SELF". And soon enough, this word count will naturally grow...

Take care! :D
